First sketches for Kurdiji 1.0 show how people can navigate the app to learn about language, ceremony, skin name and law. Our app is the first major attempt by indigenous elders to tackle suicide rates by using technology to share cultural knowledge.
The Kurdiji 1.0 app will provide an interactive environment for young people to learn about language, skin name, ceremony and law. These ideas have been communicated through initiation ceremonies and by oral tradition for thousands of years. They have a proven track record in fostering a sense of belonging and increasing resilience among young indigenous people.
With suicide rates in Aboriginal Australia at the highest point in history, we can’t keep relying on non-indigenous methods. Kurdiji will save lives.
You can support them by sharing our posts and giving $5 to our crowdfunding campaign which launches on April 4th.
