“Aeroplane Dance” from Borroloola

The “Aeroplane Dance” from Borroloola depicts an event of the Second World War when an American bomber crashed in country to the east and the crew was found and rescued by local Yanyuwa people. Aboriginal ceremony is a living and evolving cultural practice that responds to events in living memory as well as events from the Jukurrpa.
The transmission of cultural knowledge is very important for the wellbeing of Aboriginal people. Warlpiri elders aim to reconnect young Aboriginal people with community, culture and country – to increase resilience and prevent suicides.
